Ryanair has announced plans to take delivery of up to 29 new Boeing 737 aircraft in 2025, creating over 2,000 jobs across Europe. The investment, valued at $3 billion, will support the airline’s expansion at airports in countries promoting aviation growth.

Job Creation and Passenger Growth

The new aircraft are designed to improve efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions by 16% and noise by 40%, while increasing passenger capacity by 4%. These planes will be distributed to airports in Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Poland – regions where governments are actively supporting aviation by lowering airport fees and abolishing taxes. Ryanair confirmed there will be no expansion in countries increasing taxes, such as the UK, France, and Germany.

The investment is expected to play a key role in Ryanair’s growth, allowing the airline to increase passenger numbers from 200 million in 2024 to 210 million in 2025. The 2,000 new positions will include roles for pilots, cabin crew, and engineers, reflecting the airline’s commitment to creating opportunities for skilled aviation professionals.

Official Statement

Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Jade Kirwan, said: “While most of Europe’s airlines remain capacity constrained, Ryanair is on track to take delivery of 29 new Boeing 737 aircraft in 2025. This additional capacity will enable Ryanair to grow our passengers from 200m in 2024 to 210m in 2025 and create 2,000 new jobs for highly paid aviation professionals at many of Europe’s most efficient, low-cost airports, where governments are stimulating sustainable aviation growth by abolishing aviation taxes and lowering airport fees.”

Ongoing Expansion

Ryanair’s latest investment highlights the airline’s strategy of expanding in regions where governments are fostering aviation growth. The additional aircraft will help meet rising demand and contribute to tourism, economic growth, and job creation across multiple European countries.
