What You Can Earn
£6.40
per hour

Apprenticeship wages vary depending on the industry, location and level of the apprenticeship. As of April 2024, the minimum hourly wage for apprentices aged 16 to 18, or those aged 19 and over in their first year, is £6.40.

Many employers pay more than this, and earnings can increase as you progress and gain more experience.

Higher-level apprenticeships, such as those in advanced technical fields, can offer competitive salaries that rival traditional university graduate starting salaries.

What Apprenticeships deliver

Apprenticeships offer more than just a job. They provide recognised qualifications, valuable work experience and essential skills development, paving the way for career progression and long-term success in your chosen field.

  • Recognised Qualifications: Apprenticeships lead to nationally recognised qualifications, ranging from Level 2 (equivalent to GCSEs) to Level 7 (equivalent to a master's degree).
  • Work Experience: Gain valuable hands-on experience in your chosen industry, making you more attractive to future employers.
  • Skills Development: Develop both job-specific and transferable skills, such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving.
  • Career Progression: Many apprentices secure permanent employment with their apprenticeship employer or use their experience and qualifications to advance their careers elsewhere.
