Yodel is set to hire 165 new employees as the company gears up for the busiest time of year. The recruitment drive will see 107 couriers and 58 warehouse workers join the team to handle the increased volume of parcels expected during Black Friday and the Christmas shopping period.
The new positions are aimed at individuals seeking flexible work opportunities, ideal for those looking to earn extra money over the festive season. The company has also indicated that some temporary roles could transition into permanent positions in the new year, depending on demand.
Yodel’s CEO, Mike Hancox, commented on the expansion: “As we head into the busiest time of year for retailers, we’re expanding our workforce to meet the boom in demand for parcel deliveries as the ecommerce market continues to go from strength to strength. Borehamwood is an incredibly important site within Yodel’s national operation, and we look forward to welcoming more colleagues on board to strengthen our peak period.”
Handling the surge in demand
Yodel is preparing to manage around 53% more parcels than usual, driven by the surge in online shopping over Black Friday and Christmas. The company’s flexible working options and increased staffing are crucial to meeting this demand efficiently.
Onsi Pay partnership offers early wage access
As part of the recruitment initiative, Yodel has partnered with Onsi Pay, allowing new employees to access part of their wages the day after working, instead of waiting for the month-end payday. This new payment option is expected to attract job seekers looking for immediate financial flexibility during the holiday season.
