Bristol-based chipmaker Graphcore has announced plans to expand its workforce by 20%, adding 75 new roles as it advances the next generation of AI computing technologies. This recruitment drive will cover a range of specialities, including silicon design, hardware, data centre infrastructure, software, and AI research, opening opportunities across its UK locations in Bristol, Cambridge, and London, as well as internationally in Gdańsk, Poland, and Hsinchu City, Taiwan.
Graphcore’s expansion follows its recent acquisition by SoftBank, a major player in the global AI market. As the company moves forward under new ownership, its CEO, Nigel Toon, highlights Graphcore’s commitment to building high-skill positions: “Graphcore is a place where people can come to do their very best work,” he said. "Whether your expertise is in silicon, systems, software, AI research, or any of the other functions that we are expanding, this is a chance to work at the leading edge of your field.”
For professionals in the tech industry, Graphcore offers a unique chance to work on advanced AI technologies at a company now directly contributing to SoftBank’s broader AI initiatives, including its ambitions in Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
A Role in AI's Future
SoftBank Investment Advisers’ managing partner, Vikas J. Parekh, spoke of Graphcore’s significance in advancing AI capabilities, particularly in developing next-generation semiconductors and computing systems essential for AGI. He noted, “We’re pleased to collaborate with Graphcore in this mission.”
For those with relevant expertise, Graphcore’s new openings represent an opportunity to join a growing tech firm with strong backing and a clear role in the evolving AI landscape.
