The number of new job vacancies in the travel industry rose by 80% last month, according to data from recruitment firm C&M, marking the largest month-on-month increase since January. This rise pushed new vacancies to their highest level in six months.

Positive Growth in Job Market

Compared to September 2023, the number of vacancies increased by 29%. In addition, the number of candidates actively searching for new roles grew by 12% month-on-month, also up 29% from the previous year. This figure represents the highest level of candidate interest in September since 2017.

Increased Job Placements

New job placements also saw a 27% monthly rise, with the number of candidates securing new roles reaching its highest point since May.

Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment, expressed optimism about these developments:
“While it’s great that new placements, vacancies and candidates all rose month-on-month in September, it’s even better to see that vacancies and candidates also increased from the same month in 2023 – with placements holding steady too.

“This is a really positive sign as we head into the fourth quarter of the year, with many candidates and decision makers leaving their summer distractions behind and focusing again on new jobs and new talent. However, we can’t get ahead of ourselves – the summer was quiet for the travel recruitment market, but hopefully we can build on the momentum from September and see more increases in activity over the next few months.”

This surge offers hope for job seekers in the travel sector as recruitment activity continues to rise.
