Sainsbury’s has announced plans to hire 20,000 seasonal staff as part of its preparations for the busy Christmas period. The recruitment drive includes 18,000 positions across Sainsbury’s stores and an additional 2,000 roles at Argos.
The temporary staff will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of stores, warehouses, and online fulfilment centres during the festive season. Responsibilities will range from helping customers in-store and restocking shelves to managing the picking and delivery of online orders.

Prerana Issar, chief people officer at Sainsbury’s, highlighted the importance of the new recruits in delivering a positive shopping experience during the holiday season:

Seasonal staff will be hired on fixed-term contracts lasting between three and 12 weeks, providing opportunities for a wide range of job seekers to join the workforce during the holiday period.
