Aldi is set to create 5,500 new roles across the UK this year as part of its continued expansion. Currently the fourth-largest supermarket in Britain, Aldi has over 1,000 stores and employs more than 45,000 people. The company plans to maintain its rapid growth throughout 2024.
The new roles include Store Assistants, Managers, and Cleaners at new store locations set to open this year. Aldi is also recruiting across its 11 Regional Distribution Centres and within its Head Office. This expansion reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening its workforce as it continues to grow.
Competitive Pay and Benefits
Aldi offers competitive salaries, with Store and Warehouse Assistants earning a starting wage of £12.00, which rises to £12.95 nationally. Those working within the M25 area start at £13.55, rising to £13.85. Uniquely among supermarkets, Aldi also offers paid breaks, a benefit valued at more than £900 annually for the average store colleague.
Commitment to Growth and Quality Service
Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer at Aldi UK, stated: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard and are without a doubt a huge part of our success at Aldi. We continue to welcome more and more customers to Aldi stores every week, not just because of our unbeatable prices and British sourcing, but also our amazing colleagues. We are looking forward to welcoming even more colleagues up and down the country to Team Aldi during 2024 as we progress towards our goal of making affordable, quality food accessible to everyone.”
Long-Term Investment in Expansion
Aldi recently committed to opening 500 more stores across Britain and is investing over £1.4 billion throughout 2023 and 2024 to reach this ambitious target. This investment will focus on expanding its distribution and store network, enhancing existing stores, and upgrading technology infrastructure to support the company’s growth.
